CHAIRMAN’S MESSAGE

“In order to take advantage of the significant wealth creation capability, we need to adopt a strategic approach towards meeting the challenges and opportunities our industry faces”

As Chairman of the Executive Committee, I am privileged and honoured to lead the PWMA in its mission of fostering the growth and development of Hong Kong’s private wealth management industry.

Hong Kong is uniquely positioned to be the pre-eminent private wealth management hub in Asia. The city is strategically located at the heart of Asia which is the global economic powerhouse, and has a long tradition of serving as an important gateway for capital flows into and out of the region. In addition, its proximity and connections to Mainland China, its robust legal and regulatory framework, low taxes and strong financial infrastructure are all important factors valued by our high net worth clients as they seek to protect and grow their wealth.

In order to take advantage of the significant wealth creation capability, we need to adopt a strategic approach towards meeting the challenges and opportunities our industry faces in areas such as talent, technology and regulation. And this underscores the importance of the PWMA’s work.

We are extremely pleased that some of our major initiatives such as the Apprenticeship Programme for Private Wealth Management co-organised with the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, our annual Private Wealth Management report and the PWMA Wealth Management Summit have proven to be so successful. Initiatives such as these and the effectiveness of our ongoing engagement and advocacy efforts with the government and regulators illustrate the great potential we can realise as an industry working together for our common benefit, and for the benefit of Hong Kong.

I am proud to be part of this effort as our industry continues to grow and transform. I look forward to greater achievements in the future with your collective support.

Yours sincerely,

Amy Lo

CEO’S MESSAGE

“Through groups such as our Regulatory, Fintech, China and ECF Committees, we bring together industry peers to share best practices, identify challenges, solve problems and strategize for the future.”

I am extremely proud of the unique role PWMA plays in fostering the growth and success of the Hong Kong private wealth management industry.

We advocate on behalf of our members and provide a channel for constructive dialogue with regulators and government officials.

We host regular forums, webinars, roundtables and an annual summit, all of which inform our members about developments affecting the industry and encourage an active exchange of views. Last year, we hosted 19 events with total attendance of over 2,150 people and provided up to 28 hours of Ongoing Professional Training (OPT) credit.

Through groups such as our Regulatory, Fintech, China and ECF Committees, we bring together industry peers to share best practices, identify challenges, solve problems and strategize for the future.

With the Certified Private Wealth Professional framework, we provide recognition to practitioners who meet the industry’s benchmarks. And we are working to train up the next generation of talent through the Apprenticeship Programme for Private Wealth Management and activities organized by our NextGen Committee.

Thank you for your continued support to PWMA. Please do follow us on LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter to learn more about our latest updates.

Yours sincerely,

Vivien Khoo
