As we heard from our speakers last night, AI has been around for decades, but recent developments in computing power and generative AI technology such as ChatGPT have led financial institutions (FIs) to engage much more deeply in its usage in all areas of business, including cybersecurity.
 
In our event “AI and Cybersecurity” with the FinTech Association of Hong Kong (FTAHK), our speakers told us how AI is beneficial for managing cybersecurity risk, how it is being by bad actors to do exponentially more bad things, and how issues like ‘who owns the data’ and ‘who is liable’ remain a challenge to tackle. Some of the most interesting discussions of the night were more philosophical in nature – ethical considerations, the value of humanities at universities if people still need to police AI, etc. Our sincere appreciation to the speakers who shared their insights and wisdom on the night!
